Easter is a time of rest and renewal. It’s a time for families to get together and a marker for the first signs of summer. Just like Christmas, Exeter and East Devon are host to a range of exciting activities and events for adults and children, making it the ideal place to live.

Here are just a selection of the many things organised in and near Exeter in the run up to Easter:

Easter Special Lunch

On the 13th April, the Atmospheric Railway Inn, The Strand, Starcross will host an Easter Special Lunch – turkey or beef followed by Easter brownie or ice cream and music. This will take place between 12:30 and 16:00. For more details visit the website below:

Easter Activities at Exeter Cathedral: Easter Baskets

Exeter Cathedral is at the heart of the city’s Easter celebrations. There are events happening in the Cathedral almost every day in the run up to Easter Sunday, but for kids, on the 14th of April, you’ll have the opportunity to stick, colour and put together your mini-basket for Easter treats:

Good Friday Cycle Ride

Get out and about on Good Friday with the Good Friday Cycle Ride starting at Starcross railway station, Starcross. This runs from 11:00 to 19:00.

Easter Weekend break

Get away for the weekend for an Easter Weekend break at Langstone Cliff. A great line up of entertainment to enjoy, including a traditional Easter Egg Hunt. For more information go to:

Children’s Easter Discos in Whipton and Heavitree

On the 16th of April between 16:00 and 18:00 at Whipton Community Hall, Pinhoe Rd, there will be a Children’s Easter Disco Sat, whilst on the 17th of April, Heavitree Social Club, 2 E Wonford Hill, Heavitree will be hosting a Disco and Easter Egg Hunt.

Easter fayre

Also on the 17th of April, there will be an Easter fayre from 14:00 to 17:30 taking place at the Exeter St Thomas Cricket ground, Grace Rd W, Marsh Barton:

Easter Theatre Week

Finally, on the 19th of April from 10am to 4pm, the PaddleBoat Theatre Company will be inviting imaginative young people aged 12 to 15 to create a stage play of their own. This will run until the 23rd of April at the Exeter Phoenix, Gandy St.
